If you are a student who is trying to improve your grades, there are a number of methods that will help you to heighten your capacity to sharpen your attentiveness, absorb the data that you study, and recollect it during an examination without being tormented by mental blocks or a test phobia. This is a list of how to go about instituting good learning behaviors:
(1) Create a place for reading and only study in that place! Locate a silent place that will be conducive to a focusing of attention without distractions. Some possible examples would be a library, a vacant classroom, or your bedroom. You will want to generate the behavior of studying when you are in this special place. So it is best to not use your special place for other activities like daydreaming, conversations, or playing games, etc.
Make Sure That Your Study Place Has:
(a) A comfortable chair, but not excessively comfy
(b) Your writing desk or table
(c) Good illumination
(d) Air flow
Make Sure That Your Study Place Doesn’t Have:
(a) Distracting views
(b) A telephone
(c) Loud music
(d) A large screen TV
(e) A companion who talks too much
(f) A refrigerator filled with distractions
(2) Split your study periods into tiny, short-range components.
(a) Set up small precise projects like, “I am going to study my math from 3 PM to 4 PM. Or else you will only set yourself up to be unsuccessful.
(b) Set a doable work goal for the amount of time you’ve set aside. For example: finish reading chapter fifteen in my biology workbook, or complete an initial draft of my history paper, etc. Set your goal when you you are ready to start studying but before you actually begin. Set realistic goals. You may possibly do more than reach your goal, but set a reachable goal even if it seems too easy.
(3) Test Anxiety & Phobias
(a) Some students mostly experience physical symptoms, like feeling hot or cold, nausea, or faintness, etc.
(b) Other people experience emotional symptoms for the most part, like feeling frustrated, irritable, or crying easily.
(c) The main trouble with anxiety is that it can trigger you to have a memory block. Or it could trigger thoughts that are racing out of control.
(d) Although you may currently experience some level of anxiety while taking a test, you can learn to diminish that anxiety, or even completely eliminate it!
(e) Anxiousness and the resultant stress are more often than not the main causes of a lack of the ability to focus concentration. Stress can also cause a mental block when you try to recollect information.
(f) Hypnosis CD’s can be utilized to relax your mind and focus your concentration. As your mind calms down, your ability to stay focused will increase. Similarly, a calm mind enhances your ability to retain information, and recall it when it is needed.
